Matthew Briggs

Dr Matthew Briggs is an expert in MALDI Mass Spectrometry Imaging and Glycomics currently working as a Research Associate at Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics facility at the University of South Australia. Matthew received his PhD in 2018 from the University of Adelaide, along with his Honours Degree (Biochemistry) in 2014, as well as his Bachelor of Science (Molecular Biology) and Diploma of Languages (Indonesian) in 2013. Since graduating, he has published 17 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, ranging from research articles and literature reviews to book chapters and opinion pieces. Most notably, his research has been published in Proteomics, Analytical Chemistry, Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry and Molecular and Cellular Proteomics. Matthew has also had the fortunate opportunity to present his work at numerous national and international conferences, including the Annual Lorne Proteomics Symposium since 2014, the Human Proteome Organization World Congress in 2015 and 2019, and most recently, the Australasian Glycoscience Symposium. In 2019, Matthew was awarded a University of South Australia Future Industries Accelerator Mobility Grant to design and develop a novel cost-effective and time-efficient MALDI-MS workflow as a Visiting Research Associate at CSL Limited, one of the world’s largest bio-pharmaceutical companies. Furthermore, Matthew was awarded Best Student Paper by the Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the Institute of Photonics and Advanced Sensing in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
